RNMSO and Dmitry Sinkovsky will perform masterpieces of program symphony
Conductor Dmitry Sinkovsky and the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a triad of the most striking examples of program music on June 19 at the Tchaikovsky Hall. They will perform the symphonic poem Don Quixote by Richard Strauss and two famous masterpieces by Claude Debussy, created in the mainstream of musical impressionism - the triptych The Sea and the prelude Afternoon of a Faun. Dmitry Sinkovsky, the chief conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theater, made his debut with the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra in January 2024. At that time, the founder of the orchestra La voce strumentale, which gained fame for performing music of the Baroque and classical eras, proposed a program of works by Northern European romantics - Sibelius and Grieg. The continuation of successful cooperation will be the further immersion of the maestro and the orchestra in program symphony. In all three works, the images embodied in the music are so visible, and the orchestral colors are so bright and varied that each listener will be able to mentally draw what they hear and retell the plot conveyed in the sounds without looking at the program.
The stage partner of Dmitry Sinkovsky and the youth orchestra will be Boris Andrianov, a renowned cellist, organizer of several major Russian festivals, who established the Great Hopes award at one of them (VIVACELLO) to support talented young musicians. The cello in the hands of Boris Andrianov will personify the main character in Strauss's symphonic poem - the legendary knight of the sad countenance. The composer entrusted the image of the faithful squire Sancho Panza to the viola - its part will be performed by Pavel Romanenko.
